You can usually save on an escape room in three ways: match the date and your team to the terms of a discount, use a concession you’re entitled to (a student ID, a family discount, the Large Family Card), or pick a cheaper way to play, such as a city game on your own phone. A promise of a discount on its own tells you nothing, though. What counts is the final amount for the whole team, and whether the terms of the offer really fit your booking.

Below you’ll find a list of ways to save and the traps worth watching out for. The example terms come from the rules and website of Gamescape at ul. Kościuszki 74 in Krakow, checked in September 2026. We deliberately don’t give any amounts, because prices and offers change.

Start with a specific team and date

Write down how many people are coming, on which day, and which games you’re interested in. Only then compare your options on the Gamescape website. The “from” price on a room card doesn’t have to match the final amount of the order for your number of players.

If your dates are flexible, check a few different days of the week. The day affects not only availability, but also whether a given discount applies at all. Don’t assume, though, that every Monday will be cheaper than every Sunday. The current price list for the game you’ve chosen is what decides.

A discount for one person or for the whole team?

This is the most important distinction when you compare offers. A personal discount lowers the price of one ticket, while a booking discount changes the amount for the whole game. Before you pay, find out who has to show a document, when, and on which days the discount works.

Here’s what example terms look like in Gamescape’s rules:

  • Student discount: one student ID entitles one person to a discounted ticket. The ID must be valid both when you book and on the day of the game, and you have to show it to the staff before you start. The discount applies on weekdays, Monday to Friday.
  • Family discount: this applies to a booking for a group with one adult and at least one child. It doesn’t cover organised school groups and doesn’t apply on Saturdays.
  • The Large Family Card and similar cards: the size of the discount and the rules for granting it depend on the regulations of whoever issues the card.

In practice: a team of five with two students won’t get a discount on every ticket, and a family planning to play on a Saturday should look at another day if they’re counting on the family discount.

Cards for large families

The Large Family Card (in Polish) is available to families with at least three children, regardless of income. You can show it in the mObywatel app, without getting a plastic card. If you live in Krakow and have at least three children to support, also check the Kraków Family Card 3+ (in Polish). The programme has a search tool for concessions and a list of partners, so before booking you can check whether the place you’ve chosen takes part.

A card doesn’t work automatically everywhere. Only programme partners give a discount, and its scope is set out in the rules of the card or of the operator.

A bigger group doesn’t always mean a lower cost

If the fee for a room is fixed within a certain range of players, splitting it between more people lowers each person’s share. If the price goes up with the number of players, the result will be different. The simplest way is to compare the final amount and divide it by the actual number of people in your team.

It’s not worth adding more people just to bring the cost down, though. The room’s limit and how comfortable the game is still matter. A saving won’t help if part of your team has no room to get involved in the puzzles.

Gift vouchers and combining offers

A gift voucher isn’t a discount, it’s a way of paying. At Gamescape, you enter the voucher code when you book your slot, the voucher can’t be exchanged for cash, and it’s only valid until the redemption deadline set out in the rules. If you’ve been given a voucher, check the date before you plan a game far in the future.

Also check whether offers can be combined. Two documents, or a code plus a gift voucher, don’t necessarily add up. If you’re not sure, ask the staff before you pay for your booking.

Ran out of time? Ask about another attempt

On its escape room list page, Gamescape says that a team that ran out of time with quite a lot still left to discover can use a discount voucher for another go at the same mission. That’s good news if you’d like to finish the story instead of paying full price for it a second time. Ask about it at the end of your game, because the operator sets the terms of this discount.

A cheaper way to puzzle: a city game in an app

If what matters most to you is solving puzzles together, not the locked room itself, compare the cost with a game on your own phone. Krakow Legends is a city game in an app, where one access covers a group playing on one phone. You don’t have to book a start time, you can take breaks, and you can try a free demo version before you buy.

It doesn’t replace every room. The game takes place outdoors, so it depends on the weather and involves a walk through the city centre.

Seasonal offers have their own dates

Seasonal promotions, for example before Christmas or during the summer holidays, apply on specific dates and under specific terms. Last year’s offer isn’t a rule for this year. Before you use one, check the dates and the exact scope of the offer on the operator’s website.

Information about offers appears on the operator’s website and in its newsletter. You don’t need to sign up to every mailing list or hunt for unverified coupons, though. Confirmed terms for one date are better than a pile of out-of-date codes.

Check the summary before you pay

  • Are the room, the number of players and the date all correct?
  • Is the discount applied to the right number of tickets?
  • Will the document that entitles you to the discount be valid on the day of the game, and is someone bringing it?
  • How are you paying? At Gamescape you can pay by bank transfer, in cash or by card on site, or with a gift voucher.

If a discount is to be settled on site, agree this before you pay the full amount. Keep your booking confirmation so you don’t have to reconstruct the terms from memory later. That way, the conversation about your budget ends with a clear decision, not with guessing whether the offer you found really applies to your outing.
