A good hen party in Krakow comes down to six decisions: the style and the limits of the surprise, the guest list and budget, the main activity, a personal touch, the logistics of the night, and the rules on photos. It all starts with the bride-to-be. One person wants to dance until morning, another would rather have a relaxed dinner and a shared adventure. The plan should suit her and still be comfortable for everyone invited.

You don’t need to fill every hour with an activity. A few clear arrangements help you avoid confusion and leave room for spontaneous conversation.

1. Agree on the style and the limits of the surprise

Ask about the general feel of the get-together: active, relaxed, elegant or full of laughs. You can keep the details secret, but don’t assume she’s happy to be scared, set public challenges or made to perform in front of strangers.

Hen do

This also goes for ideas that look harmless in the offers. For example, one escape room package offers the extra option of locking the bride-to-be in at the start of the game. For one person that’s a great joke, for another it’s stress. If you don’t want to give the plan away, just ask her in general terms whether she enjoys that kind of fun.

Treat your guests’ needs the same way. Not everyone wants to take part in an activity built around alcohol or intense stimuli.

2. Pin down the guest list and the budget

Settle the number of people, the date and the upper limit of what each guest will spend. Talk separately about covering the bride’s share. There’s no need to assume that one way of splitting the cost works for every group.

Confirm the numbers before you book. Group offers often quote a price for a set group size plus a supplement for each extra person, so a last-minute change to the list also changes the amount per guest. Popular weekend dates can fill up quickly, so book ahead as soon as you know the date.

Include activities, food, travel, any accommodation and a gift in the budget. Before anything is booked, agree how you’ll handle cancellations under the provider’s terms.

3. Choose the main activity

An escape room gives you a story-driven goal, a city game combines that with a walk, a workshop lets you make something yourselves, and a spa treatment brings a slower pace. A boat trip or a night at a club each needs its own check of dates and conditions.

When you choose, think about the size of the group. A single escape room usually takes a handful of people at once, so a bigger group splits into teams across several rooms. A city game copes better with a large crew, because the teams set off on the route in parallel. If some of the group don’t speak Polish, check whether the game is available in English.

In Gamescape’s hen and stag offer you can compare the options for groups: an escape room with a room for a short party after the game, a special evening city game, or a city game in one of the selected scenarios. In the city games, teams use a tablet with a map. If the party-themed Black & White catches your eye, remember that it’s a scenario for adults only, for 2 to 8 players, where the puzzles are mixed with a toast and photos. The operator says the door stays open and you can leave at any time, which reassures anyone who doesn’t like closed spaces.

If the bride-to-be loves stories about schools of magic, the game could be Enchanted Amulets: a search for the artefacts you need to find the Cup of Life, for 2 to 8 players, 65 minutes. The room card warns that it’s dimly lit, so if anyone feels uneasy in low light, talk to the staff before you book. It’s a separate magical story, not an official adventure from the world of a well-known book series.

Sometimes a hen do and a stag do merge into one get-together, for example when both groups of friends enjoy puzzles. In that case, confirm with the operator that both teams will play at the same time, because booking one room doesn’t guarantee a place for the other crew. Split the experienced players between the teams. Also remember that escape times from two different rooms aren’t a fair comparison, because the scenarios differ in length and difficulty. If you want a head-to-head, ask about an option where both teams play by the same rules, such as the same city game scenario. And don’t split people by gender just because it’s “brides versus grooms”.

Don’t plan too many places far apart. Travel time can eat up a good chunk of the evening. Put the game before the part of the night with more alcohol: a shared mission needs focus and respect for the venue’s rules. If you’re planning costumes, check that they won’t get in the way of moving around and using the props.

4. Add a personal touch

A playlist of her favourite songs, short wishes from each guest or an album of memories can give the get-together its own character. Gifts and decorations don’t have to be elaborate.

You can also weave the personal touch into the activity itself. Gamescape’s group packages let you hide a gift in the final puzzle or add a quiz about the bride-to-be. Don’t hide the gift in the set on your own: agree with the staff when to hand it over and what kind of item works. If you’re preparing questions about her, pick ones she’ll be happy to answer. A joke shouldn’t rely on embarrassing her or revealing a private story.

5. Confirm transport, shopping and rest

Send everyone the address of the first meeting point, the times and the organiser’s contact details. Sort out the journey home and accommodation for anyone travelling in. If you’re renting an apartment, check the house rules rather than assuming a party is fine.

If part of the evening will take place in the apartment, do the shopping early. Since 1 September 2026, shops and petrol stations across Krakow don’t sell alcohol to take away between 10pm and 6am. The ban doesn’t cover restaurants and bars. You’ll find the details in the city’s announcement (in Polish).

For getting back after dark, check the MPK Kraków timetables to see whether anything runs your way at that hour, or arrange transport in advance. Everyone should carry ID. Adults-only activities and venues serving alcohol may ask you to prove your age.

Leave room in the plan for a meal, water and some slack between bookings. Comfortable shoes or a chance to change can matter more than the whole group wearing matching outfits.

6. Keep the memories, with everyone’s consent

Photos and short videos can make great keepsakes, but not everything has to end up online. Agree which ones can be shared and with whom.

You could set up a shared private album after the event. Most importantly, everyone should be able to enjoy the evening without feeling they’re constantly performing for the camera.
